MOSSA (formerly Body Training Systems) Class Descriptions: MOSSA's mission is quite simple: to get more people moving! MOSSA has a series of group fitness programs that are carefully designed to deliver a simple, fun, and effective social exercise experience independent of barriers like gender, age, or fitness level. All of Total Balance's MOSSA instructors have been trained and certified in the following formats to deliver fun, safe, and effective workouts for you!
Group Active: Activate your life in only one hour! Feeling fitter, stronger, and more alive has never been more achievable or enjoyable. Incorporating all elements of fitness, Group Active will increase your cardio endurance, build your strength, and improve your balance and flexibility. All of this is offered in a supportive environment with motivating music and caring instructors. Get more out of life - get Active!
Group Centergy: Grow longer and stronger as you explore this 60-minute journey of yoga and Pilates movements. Positive, uplifting music, group dynamics, and supportive instructors will enable you to center your energy, reduce your stress, and make you smile! Discover Group Centergy! *a yoga mat is recommended.
Group Fight: Group Fight brings it on! This electric 60-minute fusion class of martial arts and boxing movements will kick your cardio fitness to the next level while defining and shaping your body and self-confidence! Energetic music, awesome instructors, and a group environment will keep you punching, kicking, and loving your workout. Group Fight will knock you out!
Group Power: Group Power is your hour of power! This 60-minute barbell program strengthens all your major muscle groups in an inspiring, motivating, group environment with fantastic music and awesome instructors. With simple, athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses, and curls, Group Power is for all ages and fitness levels. Discover results, discover Group Power.
Other Group Fitness Class Formats:
Barre: Join Heather in this workout derived from ballet. The classical dance movements and positions are combined with those drawn from yoga and pilates and other equipment such as resistance bands, yoga straps, exercise balls, and hand weights. Barre classes typically focus on small, pulsing movements with emphasis on form, alignment, and core engagement. Barre classes focus on the lower body, developing strength and flexibility, from the ankles up through the calves, knees, thighs, and glutes. Classes can be modified for anyone's physical background.
Dance Attack: Dance Attack will take your cardio and dance skills to an ALL NEW level! Join dance choreographer Cleveland Smith for his 1-hour power-packed fitness fun dance party! Try something different for your body, mind, and spirit and learn to embrace your body's movements in Dance Attack!
Fitness Impossible: In this class we will be pushing our bodies to the max with high intensity interval training, using plyometrics, and doing other functional movements. Get to know the TRX bands, kettlebells, slam balls, and other less common pieces of fitness equipment. Love them or hate them, this class is guaranteed to make you sweat and coming back next time for more!
Forever Fit: This gentle, fun class is for everyone who wishes to stay fit forever (caters to ages 55+). Come swing to some of your favorite old tunes and receive a low-impact workout at the same time. Each workout will be different - we incorporate the platform bench, weights, bands, and balls to challenge your strength, cardio, balance, and mental focus. Several options will be given so we can accommodate ANY fitness level!
Pilates: A system of exercise designed to improve physical strength specifically focusing on the core, flexibility, and posture and enhance mental awareness. *bringing a yoga mat is recommended, but mats are also available at the gym.
RIPPED: This total body, high-intensity style program utilizes free weights, resistance, and body weight to masterfully combine the components of R.I.P.P.E.D.-Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, and Endurance as the workout portion and Diet suggestions to help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable, and extremely effective. Set to driving motivating music, participants jam through RIPPED with smiles, determination, and strength. No boredom here! RIPPED is for all levels. It's tough, yet doable; RIPPED will absolutely challenge all your levels of fitness and endurance!
Shred and Sculpt: A complete workout routine for muscle sculpting, building strength, increasing cardio endurance and flexibility, as well as improving balance through yoga poses, free weights, bands, and cardio exercises.
Silver Sneakers® Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activities of daily living. Hand-held weights, resistance bands, and a Silver Sneakers balls are offered for resistance. A chair is available for seated or standing support.
Step Express: Classic meets contemporary step aerobics! In this class, you will utilize the step in varying positions and heights. This awesome cardio program strengthens and shapes the lower body one step at a time. Energetic music and motivating instructors create this spunky group experience.
Super Sculpt: IT's time to put all the 'other equipment' in the group fitness room to use! 'Muscle Confusion' workouts are also one of the top fitness industry trends. Super Sculpt is just that. You will never do the same workout twice so that your body does not become 'comfortable' and therefore reach a plateau. This is a great strength training program for the athlete or the beginning participant. We will lead you through a total body efficient and effective workout in just 40-45 minutes. Each class will use a variety of equipment and keep you engaged to the very last rep.
*Stretch and Reflect: 15 minutes of flexibility for the whole body ending with 5 minutes of total relaxation accompanied by neck massages!
TRX Sculpt: This class is a total body strength training workout that incorporates suspended TRX bands and weights into each session. Every fitness level will be challenged in a fun and dynamic way!
Weight Room Circuit Challenge/HIIT Circuit with Matt: Get back into the weight room for a guided strength/cardio circuit that is going to challenge you in every way possible. Heavier lifting will be the focus to help us maintain and build lean tissue. Short bursts of high-intensity cardio drills (options shown) will round out a full body system attack. ALL FITNESS LEVELS WELCOME!!
Pilates Yoga: A class that combines the effective core building and toning techniques of Pilates with the relaxation and flexibility of yoga.
All Levels Yoga: This class focuses on basic classical yoga postures, alignment principles, and breathing techniques. Whether you are brand new to Yoga or well on your journey, we will meet you where you are and leave you feeling rejuvenated, elongated, and most definitely centered.
Gentle Yoga: All the benefits of traditional Yoga- breath work, improves flexibility & focus, gains in strength and balance, and becoming more centered- will be weaved into this gentle flowing class. Participants may choose to complete this practice barefoot on a yoga mat or keep shoes/socks on and use a chair as an option to prevent moving up and down from the floor. All ages/fitness levels welcome - especially geared for those with chronic wrist and back issues.
